About Me

My name is Melyssa with a WHY - former marine mammal trainer, certified lifestyle medicine professional, dog mom, and positive psychology fitness professional!

As a child, I had always dreamed of becoming a marine mammal trainer, and I was lucky enough to live  out that childhood dream for almost 5 years! During that time, I learned so much about the applications of behavior modification in animals - but there was part of me that knew I needed to grow. At that time, I made the shift to attend graduate school and pursue an advanced degree in psychology with the goal of working to help people change their mindset and transform their lives...

Now I'm on a mission to help others learn to love themselves the way they are while making lifestyle changes to enhance their overall well-being! My passion is for teaching group fitness classes and sharing my energy with the class to help you find the joy in movement! The greatest compliments I have received are from participants who tell me their favorite part of the week is coming to my classes - it makes my heart SO FREAKING full to hear when my classes have as much fun as I do!

...because I know what it feels like to hate the body you have. What it’s like to be disgusted with what you see when you are looking in the mirror... Hearing the voices of people from your past who have commented on your weight, mistaken you as pregnant, or told you that you were “too fat” to achieve your childhood dream job...Striving and fighting SO HARD to become that “after” photo because “if I just lose the weight, then I’ll finally be happy!”

But do you know when I truly felt happy? When I let go of the unrealistic expectations for my body. When I learned how to respect my body and practice showing it gratitude. When I learned that SHAME DOESN’T WORK for change - to achieve transformation you need to practice self-compassion, acceptance, and patience...

My why is to inspire you to believe in yourself, build from that inspiration to empower you to change your life, and then guide you to experience transformation of mind, body, heart, and spirit!

So that is a little bit about me and WHY I am here today, doing what I love and working to inspire others to change their lives! Together we will embark on a journey of creating more positive mindset shifts, adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors, and fostering a sense of self-love and acceptance throughout your journey!
